My role

unlikeany is a video-focused dating app designed for Gen Z. As the sole designer on the team, I am responsible for the whole design process from concepting and wireframing to prototyping and pixel perfect UI design. I am also developing a cohesive branding identity and design system to ensure that the app's aesthetics are consistent, accessible, and visually appealing.

Most dating apps today are centered on superficiality and appearance rather than personality, so users can't fully show off their true selves. A demographic like Gen Z, which values authenticity and self-expression, may find this especially frustrating. As a result, many young people feel that traditional dating apps do not meet their needs. They are no longer satisfied with the shallow and unfulfilling experiences these apps provide.

Our mission at unlikeany is to create a dating app that addresses the unique needs and desires of Gen Z users. Using video challenges, voice statements, and friend statements, we wanted to allow users to authentically and genuinely connect with others.

Designing unlikeany involves continuous iteration and the incorporation of user feedback. We follow a double diamond design approach, conducting desk research, unmoderated user testing, and online and physical interviews with Gen Z users to better understand their needs and preferences.


To ensure that we are meeting the expectations and addressing the pain points of our users, we provide in-app feedback tools for them to share their thoughts and suggestions. We remain focused on listening to the opinions and needs of our users and incorporating their feedback into the app design.


By following this research-driven approach, we are continuously trying to design an app that resonates with Gen Z users and meets their unique needs and preferences. We continue to gather feedback and iterate on the design to ensure that the app remains relevant and user-friendly.
